Think my men have lice. :(

I heard Hoggle cry and thought Ludo had hurt him but then I saw him scratch and I have noticed a few tufts of fur come off him.

I was also hugging him and have come up in a rash on my neck.

What do I do?

What a nightmare, I don't need vet bills at this time of year. :(

Does this sound like lice to you?

Should I wash everything in the cage?
 
You can buy some super shampoo from Gorgeous Guineas called Lice 'n' Easy which is great stuff.

Or you can pop them to your vets and they will probably administor Ivermectin either by drops or injection.
Also most pet shops do a lice treatment like 'spot on' for dogs and cats but of course for rabbits and guinea pigs. What ever you choose I'd treat both just to be on the safe side.

What sort of disinfectant are you using? you may need to treat the cage if it is wood!
 
LOL @ the visitors comment! :)p

It is just a plastic cage, I am putting the normal disinfectant spray in the base then washing the beds and chairs, fleeces, teddies etc in the mashine. They are led on newspaper at the moment wondering what has happened to their castle!

I am about to put their drops on now, I got 12 weeks worth for £4.39! :o
 
lice or mites? lice you can see in the hair and do occasionally cause hair loss but not until a major infestation usually.
mites you can't see, and do cause hair loss.
 
I can't see anything but I have bites and Hoggle was crying when he scratched. He and Ludo is de-bugged though so fingers crossed everything is ok now. :)
