I just noticed weird little bugs crawling around on my new piggie Jinx and I'm thinking they are lice :( I don't live in the UK and buying the gorgeous guineas Lice shampoo from them will probably take at least 2 weeks to arrive... Can I use this stuff on my piggies? http://www.petco.com/product/102342...And-Lice-Bird-Spray.aspx?CoreCat=OnSiteSearch

I just don't want to have to wait a long time to get rid of them...

Also... Can I get lice from touching them?

Looks like its used just for birds? I wouldnt use it really, maybe ring a vets to ask for the best treatment you can use. I think Ivermectin can be used for lice.

Ivermectin spot on works for lice and mites....but sometimes with a serious mite condition you may need injections instead of topical application

Johnsons inseticidal shampoo is great for clearing up a "lice-only" infection

Treating the pig is not enough You need to treat the cage/bedding etc etc to ensure there is no re-infecton

My piggies also have lice :(

I have treated them for it.
They are kept indoors in a wooden hutch and I use towels and fleece for bedding.
I wash their bedding at 60 degrees, will that be hot enough to clean the bedding from lice?
