So I was just giving my pauly some loving and happened to look through his fur on his head and believe to of found lice (small moving white bugs!) Hes not bothered by them but i do know this time of year they are really prone to them

I came across johnsons insecticidal spray has anyone used this before? Is it any good? Ive only had my guineas a week and I dont really want to start bathing them yet and they are still settling in and I dont want to stress them out anymore then what they may already be!

I just had to deal with lice 2 days ago. I don't live in the UK so i don't have access to the johnsons stuff but I used the 8 in 1 brand flea and tick spray for small animals and it worked wonderfully. You could look up the ingredients and see if they're similar. Also, I've only had my piggies for 5 days and I really didn't want to traumatize them and make them not trust me. But their health is more important. They will be ok and get over it eventually. So if you need to give them a bath go ahead and do it I would say.

The majority of anti-parasitic products available can only be used on guinea pigs over 12 weeks old so please read the labels carefully. Xeno 50 spot on can be used to treat smaller/younger animals.

If you do use a spray then I find wearing a pair of plastic gloves, spraying onto the fingers and rubbing my fingers through the coat to be very effective - it prevents the pig inhaling the spray and gets the product to the base of the coat where the parasites are.
