Ok as much as I'd like to think it is affectionate I'm pretty sure its not. Both Pebbles and Wilma sit and lick for ages. Why do they do this?

Aww, our piggies lick our hands too, I think it is the salt thing. We call it piggy kisses.

a couple of mine lick its so funny & cute

must mean your one of them:p

I think its the salt thing too.

We have 2 lickers.

Willow likes to give out 'piggie-kisses' too :)) Pippa occassionally will, but Pixel just thinks that anything put near her mouth can be eaten!

Animals are supposed to like being stroked because it reminds them of their mums cleaning them by licking them. So, I'd always thought they were trying to reciprocate when we stroked them and it was a sign of affection/acceptance.

Probably is the taste of the skin though:0 It's cute when they do it but a little off-putting when you think they may have recently eaten their own poo!
