As I am new here, I thought I would share my first two guinea boys;
both have departed me now Lightning being the most recent in June of this year and Storm in November of 2010.
I miss them both terribly as I used to have them both out a lot, just bonding with them watching tv Etc.
Rather be with my pigs than doing homework for school!
They did have their squabbles but nothing major no biting, WELL accept an occasional nip on my nose from Lighty-pig to tell me he wanted to go home to toilet or just go home in general! Thats how he earned his nickname Lighty-Bite. He was also a very ambitious piggy when it came to food, so I used this and taught him how to do a circle on command, and he even came when called.. Mostly during floor time
Both were very characteristic, Lightning the more dominant long haired silky ginger piggle with a white flash, and Storm who was built like a tank! And didnt really run fast, he wombled. So he earned his nickname womble. Because well, when you're as big as Stormy was, you do tend to womble!
I miss them so much and am in the process of finishing my C&C cage, which I'm afraid my two boys never got to experience because my mum was quite stubborn when we first got them. But It wasnt so bad as we did have them out a lot. They were very good out, they loved sleeping in little soft beds and fleece.
Unfortunately we lost Lightning to a rare condition in pigs, he had hyperthyroidism and he was too week to undergo any treatment. He had already had his teeth worked on because one vet thought he had teeth issues, which he did at the time. Spurs on his molars - but he wasnt eating at that moment- he then began to display more normal signs of being himself. But he would eat everything!
When it was discovered he could have the issue with the thyroid, It was a hard decision to make but the vet advised us he should depart because by that point they didnt think that any thyroid treatment would help and he would just continue into heart failure.
I couldnt have that, so the next day unfortunately I put my little man to sleep. :'(
They wouldn't let me be with him while they performed the deed, and they expected me to leave but I'm one of those people that has to see them during/after just to be at peace and say good bye.
I apologised for not being able to give him a lovely C&C cage for him and his brother, and I will forever love them both. But now they are together in rainbow bridge.
Rumble strutting away.
Lightning Above, and Storm Below <3 Rest In Peace my boys, <3
