Lights Off

Does anyone else’s guinea prefer the lights off? During the day he won’t leave his hidy hole but when the lights are off, he’ll come out and run around and play with his toys

Archie isnt bothered by lights or lack of light, but I dont like too much light so my room is often lit up with only a candle or something.

Naturally they are crepuscular so may feel quite exposed in full light. Mine are defiantly more active mornings and evenings but whether the light is on or off doesn’t seem to make much difference

As long as they have plenty of places to hide (ie theirnikea beds to go under) my lot are fine in full daylight.

A friend would also helpto build his confidence as guinea pigs are designed to live together.

Before I adopted him I was thinking of getting him a friend but I found out he wasn’t getting along with the other guineas in his last home. So I’m not sure

Often rescues have experienced people to bond them for you if you're worried about it They can also figure out which pig's personalities are more likely to be a match.

I have noticed Patchy and Coco are alright with natural light during the day but do not like alot of artificial light being on at night to the point Patchy gets startled whenever I turn the light on in the kitchen and all of the sudden she’s in the light and sudden shadows startle them too
