Our lovely Angel got out if her run in the garden and whilst my 8 year old daughter was trying to get her back in said she may have accidentally stood on her catching her back leg. She was obviously very distraught and is very upset. I checked Angel over and she was squeaking loudly at first ( she is very vocal anyway ) I put her back in her hutch inside and have observed her. She is eating and moving around although not as fast as usual and she is not putting her back leg on the ground . I took her out which she let me with no problems and can’t see any swelling but she was flinching when I touched anywhere near her bum area. I’m so worried incase she has a broken leg or worse. We are waiting for a phone consultation from the vet.

A few years ago, my girl was only putting her back leg to the floor with the topside of her foot on the floor and her leg behind her. When the vet xrayed it they said there was no breakage but she had some swelling in the joint. Couldn't say if it was arthritis or an injury from a fall maybe, but she had some long term meds for it and started using it properly again. Personally I think she'd fallen on the ramp in her new Pets at Home Bluebell hutch that she'd only just moved into, because the steps were so far apart.

Whatever it turns out to be with Angel, it was an accident and even the most careful people have accidents. You are doing the right thing getting vet advice. Have you taken any pics so maybe you can email them to the vet?

Hope you are all OK. Sending hugs x

All the best! it is always an exious wait. Hopefully it is just some bruising.

Thank you . They haven’t called yet , she’s moving around and still eating but obviously really worried.

If she is moving around without putting a lot of weight on her foot (but at least a little), then I would not think that there is some very serious damage like a break - if that would be the case, she would be in real pain. Vets are unfortunately really busy, so if necessary make a reminder call but if I were you I would not panic.

Thank you , she’s still eating and moving around so really hoping she is okay. Just had a cuddle which she seemed to enjoy but was really careful how we picked her up. Hopefully they’ll call tomorrow morning, our little girl has gone to bed in pieces she is already a very anxious child and loves her so much. We all do

Please call the vet tomorrow morning; it may have just been forgotten - especially if she is worse.
