I just recently got Luna, but she came to me with a little line by her eye. Is it just a scratch? Or is it fungal. Sorry the picture isnt great shes very shy, which also means I cannot pick her up to check it out more. Thanks20200424_112746.webp

I can’t tell anything from the picture. You are best placed to see if it is a scratch. If it is the start of a fungal issue, then, she will require treatment (plus ringworm is very contagious to other piggies and humans) but she will require a vet check for a diagnosis

Thank you. How can I tell is it is fungal or a ringworm? Is it was a scratch how long does it take for the fur to grow back, because I cant immediately see any red on it.

Ringworm (which is a fungal infection) looks like dry, flaky, scaly skin. There are pictures of it in the health section of the form for comparison

Hi!

If it is a scratch, it will simply heal and any scab will fall off.

If it is ringworm, then the bald area is going to grow.
You can find pictures of ringworm onset and development around the eye in our ringworm guide. You should know within 2-3 days if you have ringworm.

After managing to get close enough to Luna to check out her eye, I'm quite sure it isnt a scratch, and is fungal. She also has a flaky bit on her ear which makes me think its definitely fungal. Can I buy some cream from the pet shop or will I have to take her to the vet? I domt really want to stress her out as shes only been with me 2 days and isnt tame yet. Thanks

She will need a vet for diagnosis and treatment. Products from pet shops aren’t strong enough to deal with issues properly and you don’t actually know for sure what you are dealing with.
Have you read the ringworm guide that was linked in to your other thread?

@Lady Kelly - could you merge this thread with the other one for completeness of information please

Okay I'll call the vets tommorow. And yes I just read it. I'll talk to the vets and see if they can get her an appointment, then I'll deep clean everything if it is fungal. Thank you ever so much.

Hope the vet trip goes well.
Keep us posted
Just been to the vets with Luna and my other piggie Willow to get them checked out. Vet said it's not fungal and she cant see any mites, but because she was scratching a bit, shes given me an ointment for both of them. That's so much everyone for the support. :)
