We have a new bigger hutch for our piggies Oscar and Bolt which is lovely and big and is wooden. It's made out of pine I think so relatively cheap wood.

The thing is this - we are worried that the wooden base will get wet and then it will warp or be difficult to clean.

What do you recommend we line it with?

Newspaper? A polyester sheet? Or nothing?

Thanks for your advice!

Sam

I always line my wooden hutches with lino. If you go to a carpet shop that also fits lino and just get an off cut then that will be fine to put over the base. It does stop the wood getting wet and getting stained.

These are genius ideas. I've gone for some cardboard today but will do that in the week

I bought a big piece of heavy duty rhino floor covering for £5, I got enough to cover 8ft x 3ft. ;)

i used lino tiles from B & M,that has stopped the wood getting wet. I line that with newspaper or puppy pads then i put megsorb and aubiose on top

I got my OH to cut a piece of vinyl flooring we had left over. Then he sealed round the edges with aquarium sealant. Works a treat.

I found with the lino tiles in the summer they became all tacky and start moving a bit. Also found them very hard to keep them stuck down. I have a wooden hutch and bought cheaply from eBay waterproof table cover, works a treat. And you can get pretty designs (not that you see it)
