Both my pigs have developed wee red sores on their lips..

I'm not sure what it is, should I take them to the vet..

Does anyone know how serious this is? will they be okay?

It might be due to fruit in their diet... I recommend GG green cream for sore lips.

I'm talking to a vet just now.

I read about the fruit on line.. but the strange thing is that they don't get tonnes of fruit.. they seems to naturally prefer vegetables. I was cautious about too much fruit causing sores.. before the sores came along .. :(

Common problem.
You must remove the scabs, however much the pig objects, then apply Daktarin Oral Gel to the area, two or three times a day. Continue the treatment for 10 days AFTER the scabs have cleared.

oh right.

I have made an appointment for the older one tomorrow with the vet.

Does that mean they should be alright for the night? They wont die or anything?

Daktarin costs about £4 for a tube, it can be bought over the counter in a chemist's shop.
Don't let the vet sell you lots of expensive creams/ointments!

Yes, Daktarin is also good. I tend to alternate them or they are less effective.

Daktarin is effective by itself, provided it is used correctly, most people/owners stop using it too soon.

I didn't take Felix to the vet.

The sores were getting better even by morning. I cannot see them on my little guy anymore, Felix's look like they should be better in a day or so.

Should I still get the ointment?

Does anyone know what caused them?
