Hi i was just wondering how many of you use a litter tray, well not you personally LOL! :)).....obviously your piggies! and how successful they are.

Its just that when i got my new set up i decided to try a litter tray, i know they might never successfully use it, but i thought i'll try anything that might save on the cleaning! I use vetbed too!.....now being washed inside an old duvet!

At first they never went near it, but then CCC4 recommended on another thread to place it under their hay rack, so moved it and hey presto! Sure enough i still have poo all over the cage which needs removing daily, but they are definitely doing wees and poos in it while eating their hay!

was also wondering the best stuff to use in it. At the mo i'm using the P@H small pets wood litter, it certainly does the job, but wondered if it was safe to use and if anyone could recommend something better and maybe cheaper? Its £3.22 for a 7 litre bag!

Cheers x

i use hi bac litter trays. My piggies have learnt to poo and wee in here as well as the other areas i have lined with paper, carefresh ( or aubiose) and hay.

I got aubiose from my local farm for £8 for 20kgs. I'm going to have to go back to carefresh thuogh as moving to a small flat so no room to store it! P@H have 3 for 2 at the moment on carefresh which really good, its a little expensive but you dont need to use loads of it. Get it whilst its on offer - this is what i do and usally this lasts until they have another offer on it!
