Litter Training 1 Year Old Piggies

I have four 1 year old piggies and i have been trying to litter train them. Lots of people said to look for patterns in where they poop and pee but they just go wherever. Does anyone have any advice? Is it too late for them to be litter trained?
 
What are they bedded on?
I find litter training works best for pigs bedded on fleece with a hay box
Since hay is 80% of their diet, and they poo most where they eat, you land up with most of the poo in the hay box.
Some piggies do just go everywhere though and wont oblige by using one main spot.
 
I have always been told guinea pigs cannot control their bowel movements, so can't be litter trained. For some pee-training them to go in a tray is possible but I've never managed it.

I used to have them on fleece but my mum got fed up with having little bits of hay in the washing machine so they are now on wood shavings (they are 100% guinea pig safe) I am looking to maybe get them back onto fleece though. But i will have to convince my mum first!
 
I have heard that a way around getting hay in the washing machine is to put the fleece in a pillow case or duvet cover and tie it shut. Then the hay bits stay in that.
Ive washed mine twice in a pillow case now. The first time I closed it with a hair band. When the cycle was finished all the pads were out the pillow case. Second time I tied the pillow case shut and the same thing happened so still figuring out how to make sure they stay inside!

If they go back onto fleece i will definitely try that! thank you!

try using a Horse wash bag... you can get them from Amazon, i use one and no hair or hay gets inside my machine - they are brilliant !
