I'd love to litter train charlie as he is young but how do I do it ? {:| {:| {:|

I don't think it's possible to litter train piggies :(, but if there is a way I'd love to know. The only thing I hate about owning piggies is the daily chore of clearing their cages out of all the droppings, if they could be trained to do it all in one place that would be brilliant!

Droppings you cant train them for but you can get them to be a bit ******* in their cage i have found!

I put in a litter tray with newspaper and hay... It needs to be enough for all of them to be able to lie in it...
Most guinea pigs will pee where they eat and lie (lazy beggars!) if you have them indoors then limit the hay to the tray only and cover the rest of the cage with newspaper and straw or what ever bedding you are using...

You will find that they will tend to pee in the tray because that is where the hay is...
My now do most of their pees in the trays and only the occasional on outside of it...
Mine love their trays as they can put their paws on the edge and get a better look about!

edited to say why has "*******" been edited out and beggar is still in!

milly and molly use a litter tray quite well and it cuts down on spot cleaning. i just fill it with hay and they mostly poop in there.:(|)

for a minite there my thread turned into a "why cant we say C L E A N E R thread" ! :) :) :)

haha let me just try - cleaner - ?

mine like to wee/poop in dark hidden corners so maybe you could get them a litter tray and put a box over it?

sorry to get off the current chat in here! but do most of you use litter trays? the ones you get from pet stores for cats etc? I'm being thick today:red

answered my own question! got a tray for guineas from the pet store!
