a friend told me that guineapigs can be litter trained.. so i was wondering if any one has a litter trained piggie? also how would one train a pig to use a liter box?

I wish I knew! I've been trying and failing miserably. In fact, I've managed to get them to pee absolutely everywhere else except their litter tray. I even caught one of them peeing directly next to it today.

I've never managed it, or at least got a piggy 100%, rabbits easy, pigs hard. I do know someone who managed to teach 1 of her pigs to use a litter tray. Used it all the time for wees but poos were hit and miss, mind you her companions weren't so didn't really matter. She hoped that the one would teach the rest, but nope. I do have a very tidy pig who goes in one corner for poos, but she goes anywhere for wees. Wish I could litter train them, I'd love house piggies running about all the time.

Mine are the opposite! They'll quite happily be good girls and wee in a corner, but they will poop EVERYWHERE. Oh well, at least I can get the wee bits refreshed every day or so! :)

i don't no how to do it. one of mine knows to go on the news paper. never trained him he just did it. but my others wee and poop everywhere rolleyes

Mine are the same. Although as soon as I put their litter tray in their chosen corner they decide to go somewhere else. Definitely fighting a losing battle I think.

Hummm I was thinking, with horses when training them to go only in one spot in a stall you

For girls, you put boy poop in the spot, not alot but a few...

For boys you put girl poop ...

Only if I had a bore :) I think some one should try!

Mine seem to have worked it out themselves.... They pee in their hay or at the bottom of their ramp, they never seem to pee in their sleeping area, and on the towel under the ramp is the only place I find pee stains! They will poop in these places mostly too, but also where they are sleeping, but that's easy to clean up. I think I'm lucky!xox

I think someone would make a lot of money if they could answer this one! :)) My bunsters were sooooo easy to litter train, in fact my buck took 24 hours at the tender age of 8 weeks! My doe took a little longer. But the piggies .... yikes, anywhere and everywhere! rolleyes Although, saying that, they do have a litter tray filled with megazorb and hay and because they spend so much time munching the hay, they do actually tiddle and poop in there while they're eating! :)

Nope... poops and wees EVERYWHERE, unless when I take them out to clean the cage, then they magically develop the ability to control their bowels, and keep it in untill I put them back in their clean cage, and then let rip, and within 30 seconds, poops everywhere again.....mallethead

Mine love to poop and pee in their house so every morning there is literally a mountain of poop and the fleece will be all soggy from so much peeing. They love to lie where they toilet.

well my two go everywhere! wish we could make them go i just one corner!

i had a friend who had two a long time back and she got them trained to wee/pooh on newspaper whenever she had them out
not sure how she did it but they would run down her body onto the newspaper do their business and then run back up to her shoulder again!

think she said it was summat like tapped them on their nose and put them on the paper whenever they did it.
(tho tbh personally i wouldnt tap them on a nose cos toscared to hurt them!)
