I have just bought one of these for some potential new guinea pigs!

I am struggling to work out how to put it together.

Do the little hooks go at the bottom or top? They kind of curve and I can't see what they are for.

So great that you are getting piggies 🙌 They will be lucky piggies, who ever is adopted by you 🏡

Gem is right in her post above. I remember the door opening up wards. The hook bits are at the top and point inwards, they wrap round the roof edge. When mine was on the floor I used to get in the top to clean it out as it was easier than trying to reach in the side. I was a lot younger and smaller then!

You explained it a lot better than me lol.I do think cages should come with instructions.

Ah to be younger and smaller again! I am having the cage up on a shelf to avoid bending. Not quite as nimble as I once was.

That is so helpful re the hooks. Thank you.

What a swear worthy procedure. I have assembled the sides but getting the roof lifted onto the cage and hooked in neatly is proving to be impossible!

I bought a stand for it which it is on. It is waaay to heavy for me to lift it off again. Just ignoring it for now and hope that I feel more able to tackle it later.

I does look a good size. Wonder why manufacturers slope the bases in so much?

It's done. With some help from my lodger.

In the end I hooked the front of the roof onto the long front panel. Hooks at the top pointing outwards.

Then fixed a side panel to the roof and to the front panel.

Then ... hooked the back panel to the roof and the other side panel.

Hooks outward to fix to the roof and little curvy things inward to clip all four sides to each other.

It feels really sturdy and secure and the big opening front doors look great.

Really appreciate having you guys to talk to about it.

I think I actually used to have that cage or it was one that looked very similar.Well done putting it together, they are very tricky sometimes.

They really are Gem. It was quite the swear fest here today! A few clear pictures in the instructions would make all the difference.

It was good that an allen key and a small spanner are provided.

I'm not surprised lol,I would've been the same.I agree, clear pictures would make such a difference.

I'm glad you managed to fit it together. I think it's been changed a bit in it's design. I asked my partner and he said it didn't need any tools when we put it together it just slotted together.

Thinking about it the tools were for the stand not the cage!

I tried to use the pliers to tighten the black bits that fit the sides together on the cage and I just couldn't make them move at all. I agree that the cage has changed quite a lot over the years.
