What a lovely handful then! I always wanted my boys to be big but they've both bottomed out at just over the 1200gram mark.

I just weighed my boys. Gus (who's usually the big pig) rolled in at 1182g. Walter really surprised me at 1288g!
They had just eaten minutes earlier so this could be slightly inaccurate....or it might be time to cut down on the nuggets!?

Guinea pigs only need 30g of nuggets a day so if you give more you can cut back.

I'm always scared that they'll starve through the day when I'm not home.
Is that 30g per pig?
They will not starve if they have unlimited hay. Yes that is 30g per piggy. Do not forget hay should make up 80% of their diet. You can reduce the pellets slowly so it is not too much of a shock for them.

Phew! That's about right then. The little cup I use to measure out their nuggets is 30g when filled and I usually give 2 of these a day. One in the morning and again at night.
I'll weigh them tomorrow before breakfast and see what they are then. Thanks :)

Mine literally have a handful of pellets at night between each group (Bunny ones), they have veg morning and night and unlimited hay of all types 24/7.

Well my Shereen is 1200g and Mooli is 948g. All piggies are different so you may just have big boys!

Junior weighs 1420g hes a little fattie also

Does he eat a lot lol yes hay, timothy hay, nuggets and vegs he thinks hes in the Chinese buffet restaurant going round all the bowls :))

His nickname is Dyson hes like a hoover :lol!:

Bless him, does he have a full bowl of pellets?

No he only gets a handful and Junior gets about 10 a day as he had 2 bladder stone surgerys already, they both get Cavy Cusine timothy pellets
Sorry to hear that. Does feeding more nuggets than recommended cause more risk of bladder stones?

Both my boys get their vegs at 11am each morning and then between 10pm-10.30pm each night and if it is gone past 10.30pm Harley starts coming over to me and follows me in to the kitchen and stands at the fridge as if to say 'come on your late i'll get it myself then' haha

This was him the night we brought him home at 9 weeks old he was a tiny tot now hes build like a bear lol

Yeah the less the better some people don't give their piggies any pellets.

Ah, I thought they were nutritionally balanced to avoid such issues? (At least that's what it says on the pack and what I have read on here. I used to give Muesli but switched to pellets because of this)
