We sadly had to say goodbye to our Little Rose yesterday. We think she was about 6. She came to us at 3 weeks old. Our local rescue had taken in a group of babies that had been separated from their mum and she was the only sow. The rescue knew we were on the search for a friend for our Rosie and we thought at that age Rosie would easily accept her. We were wrong. Rosie hated her and Little Rose squeezed through the grids and joined our other pigs instead. Rosie was happy on her own with interaction through the grids bless her.

Rose lived as part of our big herd and was loved by all. Katie skinny adored her and would hold her head out so Rose could clean her eyes. Any pig that needed looking after, Rose was straight there. Her and Mary skinny had an incredibly special relationship and would curl up together to sleep. Over the last year she had slowly lost each of her friends but after Fuzzy died we thought she would be miserable but she had a new burst of energy. It was like the pressure of being the carer was taken away. She did old lady zoomies and loved flirting through the grids with the Allcocks. We tried bonding her twice but she wasn't happy so stayed on her own and enjoyed chatting to her neighbours.

She had always had small lumps and was recently also diagnosed with a tumour on one side and a large ovarian cyst on the other. We decided against surgery not just due to her age but because we did not think she would cope with an op as she has never dealt well with being poorly. She was on long term pain relief and had a hormone injection a week and a half ago. She was due her next one this week. On Wednesday we found her on her side and floppy. Within 20 minutes though she was back to normal, weight bearing, eating and purring. However, when i got up yesterday I noticed she had not eaten her veg and was doing her best to get away from me. She was dragging herself when she ran and she was floppy again. We rushed her straight to the vets and It was clear she was tired and it was not fair to make her fight anymore. She gave me a lovely purr again as I kissed her goodbye. She showed us how brave she was right to the end as apparently she was just sat there in the little box enjoying the gas before going to sleep bless her.

There will never be another pig like Rose. Love you so much angel. I hope Fuzzy, Mary, Amy, Moo and Katie are looking after you now.

Oh Helen, I’m so sorry. Hopefully Rose is being cared for by the welcoming herd at the Bridge instead of being the carer to them all. Sleep tight little one xx. Big hugs to you and Ross xx

BIG HUGS

There are some piggies that stand out. Little Rose leaves huge paw prints in your heart and your memory.

I am sure that she is happy to be back with her piggy family, especially her skinny snuggle up, but you are left with a big empty space. When the last of an era goes, you lose them all over again as the direct link is gone. :(

RIP Little Rose

That’s brought a tear to my eye, such a gorgeous tribute. Beautiful little Rose. You were so loved by piggies & humans alike. Popcorn free over the rainbow bridge little one. :luv:

Hello Helen.
What a fantastic and beautiful but sad message about Rose. You did great and in that very hard and emotional time you did her proud.
Sounds like a thousand memories were made which in time will produce a thousand smiles.
RIP ROSE.
