Hello everyone! This is my three month old, American Himalayan Sow, Ruby!

She's quite the character. She gets out a lot. In the mornings before class, she has her very own clothes hamper she gets to burrow in while I'm getting ready. She loves the couple hours she gets to explore and burrow. When I get home from class, Ruby gets to play outside in her play pen while I do barn chores. She gets sunshine while I clean corrals, ride, and take care of horses and all the other barnyard animals. After homework and dinner is done, we crash on the couch to read or watch television before bed. She's a spoiled pig and HATES being in her cage (which is huge...) She always squeaks very loudly as I walk away. It makes me very sad haha.

I'd like to share with you some pictures!

She has an ear tag, which I am talking to my vet on getting off. Just a heads up in case it bothers anyone like it bothers me.

aww she is adorable, sounds like she is very much queen of her castle too :)

Oh my she is so beautiful. You must love her so much. I really hope you can get her a friend soon so she is not so dependent on you.

I love her big flappy ears! Is she a young piggy?

I see what you mean about the ear tag - If it were my piggy, I'd be inclined to get it removed incase they scratched it and caught it or anything, more than for any cosmetic reason. Something to discuss with the vet and weigh up the risks :)

She is beautiful! I think she's wheeking Mummy can I have a friend to play with? Sounds too good to not have someone to share the exploring with :))

Amanda, yes it is definitely something I'm talking to my vet about. Aside from the fact that it's HIDEOUS, I can't imagine it being very comfortable there... That and I'm afraid it might catch on something... Ears are very vascular. It would be looots of blood.

And yes, she is a young piggy. She's only three months. I'm sure she'll grow into her dumbo ears =D

Piggyfan, Guinea pigs aren't very popular where I'm at. You can buy some ridiculously expensive at the pet store, or from a breeder... Both of which I'm not interested in. I already acquired Ruby from a very bad situation at a breeder. I wouldn't classify it as a rescue as she wasn't the one being abused, but many around her were. I found homes for many of the others I acquired and decided to keep her.

I'm on a list with my local shelter. If any piggies come in, they'll call me. I really want Ruby to have a nice friend.

She is adorable x)
