Liver biopsy

Misu is doing well. Thank you for asking.

Her friend Parkin recently died, so she had an upset and loss some weight then- but is now keeping steady, and is looking brighter.

She mostly has trouble with arthritis- her back legs looks like she is skating when walking. But she is doing well on pain relief and supplements.

Her friends are very good at providing her with equal measures of support and disruption- so she is rested but keeps moving (so her legs don't get too stiff).

Loving a hay filled life.

I am very sorry about your loss but happy to hear that Misu is still going and able to enjoy her life.

Are you giving extra glucosamine for the arthritis?

This is a great update, thank you! She is gorgeous and I'm so pleased she's enjoying her old girl status.

I'm currently working through my own liver piggy and have found he responded well to grain-free pellets (in case others are having a similar experience) which has reversed his weight loss.

@thewheakybeans may also benefit from a read if they haven't already.

Yes- I've seen on other threads to give the Johnson's 4 joints, adjusted for the body weight. She quiet likes the taste. Thank you.

She's got an escalating pain relief plan with her vets- currently on meloxicam, gabapentin and paracetamol. The next step would be tramadol. We were advised that acupuncture can help in some cases, but as Misu is skinny, this wouldn't necessarily be an option for her.

The herd as adjusting after their loss. We had some worries that Mini Roll would be a little dictator- as the ladies have been tense with eachocher before. Mini Roll has her moments- but is very sweet grooming both of her older friends and giving piggie kisses.

That is good to hear. Just making sure that your girls are all OK. :)

I would assume that the leadership and hierarchy has been sorted now and that Mini Roll is now more confident in herself to bring out her caring side.

It's always rough losing a pig, especially when it hits the herd hard.

We found that some of our... young, hard-nosed sows softened significantly once they were the top of the pile, especially when they had younger ones to 'mother'.

I appreciate you are probably not able to do that, but if all we are at dominance cleaning territory then it's probably not needed either.

As ever, my love to The Roll.
