Hey! I'm just looking for a bit of advice from my fellow EU neighbors.

At the moment I'm feeding my two boars Burgess Excel, about 60g between the two, they also get fresh vegetables in the evening and hay 24/7.

I don't have access to oxbow here, their on amazon but don't ship to Ireland which is frustrating. It seems Burgess is the best I can do, does anyone have any ideas on another better brand available? or is Burgess fine? I've been looking at this on zooplus:

JR Farm Guinea Food: Great Deals on Small Pet Food at zooplus.ie: JR Farm Grainless Complete Guinea Pig

Its Timothy based according to the ingredients but don't no about anything else, any opinions would be a real help. Thanks

JR grainless is great! My lot have that so I can certainly recommend it. It's a lot better than Burgess too, I used to feed that but switched slowly but surely!

Versele Laga on zooplus is also very good and my pigs live that. I feed a mix in the hopes that they don't get too fussy, which is working so far! :)

hi and welcome!:wel:
Although my piggies don't eat pellets regularly (I use pellets only in a very little dose) I have Versele Laga Complete (grainfree) which my piggies appreciate a lot.
Zooplus has a very good price for this pellet, especially if you buy the big box. Next time you want to try a new brand, if you want to try Versele Laga, send me a private message with your address, I will send you a sample so that you can try them before the purchase.
Don't exaggerate with doses of pellets, though; don't follow the advices written on the box, those doses are excessive; it is not the main food for piggies... they need hay/grass mostly and pellets fill their bellies...

If you went over the border you'd possibly be able to access more pellet varieties...but I'm aware that only works if you're close to the border, so please disregard that if it's not the case >.> otherwise Zooplus is probably your best bet for buying pellets.

And as @sport_billy says, welcome to the forum! Nice to see another Irish person around :)

Thanks for the reply's and the welcome. I went with the JR farm, I have a nice haul coming now between amazon and zooplus so I'm looking forward to it arriving!

Hopefully Bert and Ernie will be happy with the pellets, they're starting to turn up their noses at the burgess now, but I can't complain as they eat everything I put in front of them. Staples are Butterhead lettuce, yellow/green pepper, courgette and cucumber. They also get the odd baby carrot and tomato and I have pea flakes coming now for treats.

Hello @Willmunny Welcome to the forum!

Pleased you have got a reply form one of our experienced knowledgeable members above :)

Aw shucks, I thought someone else had replied after me :raz:

I do hope they enjoy it! If it's any help, I tend to introduce new food as treats to start with and then progress to mixing it into their existing food. They then think they're getting their treat for dinner because they're silly :)) Or maybe my lot are just a bit daft! :P

Also welcome to the forum! My apologies, I didn't realise you were so shiny and new! :D
