Hello again,

I'm looking at bonding my loan and apparently slightly aggressive boar but was hoping that some people may be able to share there experiences with me ?

Wether behaviour changed, as my piggie is quite quiet and a little boring compared to my duo, how long it took to calm down behaviour wise with dominance and things like that ?

thanks (:

He's likely to seem quiet and boring because he doesn't have another pig to share his pigsonality with.

I'd really recommend taking him for dating, by someone with plenty of experience. I just took Big Dave dating at Suzy's and it was great - I took him, a week later I had 2 happily bonded pigs! Completely stress free! (on my part anyway :)) ) Dating will allow him to try potentially several boys if he doesn't take to the first one, eliminating the risk of you taking on another boar, then having two lone pigs if they decide they don't like each other.

I know you don't have much in the way of rescues down there, but if you were able to get to Bristol, I could potientally help with transport a bit further from there if you're desperate.

Thanks for the reply, i've tried explaining this whole he's quiet because he's alone thing to my OH and mother as there not sure it's fair on him to be bonded as it may stress him rolleyes

So i'm trying to get other people to share experiences to say it's not that bad and he's better off that way ! (:

I have found a rescue down here, norman gormans willing to help and they also have babies i could try him with that could be better !

All the pigs that I've got bonded are so much happier for having the company of thier own species. It hasn't changed their personality at all, or rather, it's brought out more sides that I'd not seen before, particularly in Jeff, who I got as a lone boar initially.

Big Dave was bonded with Boxy, and they weren't too bothered by each other. They did their own thing, they just shared a cage. It wasn't until Boxy died that I noticed how much Big Dave actually missed him. He would go around searching in the pigloos for him.

Little Dave was traumatised when his cagemate died, to the point where he didn't eat for two days.

These two boys are now happily bonded, and because they've been dated and allowed to find the partner that's right for them, they're like completely different pigs. I no longer have Little Dave, but I've seen him in his new home, and if pigs could smile, he'd be grinning from ear to ear.

Big Dave is totally smitten with his new piggy friend, and I'm seeing bits of his character that I've never seen in the 3 years I've had him, because he's now with a pig that he's chosen to be with!
