i normally stock up at p@h for gp stuff, but hadnt noticed that we were low on food and that i didnt have my emergancy supply.

went to my local pet shop and they said they didnt sell gp food but they have rabbit mix, i sh9outed at him that you can not feed gps that.

am i right?

x

i'm not sure but i definately wouldn't feed my guineas rabbit mix. my two like the tesco or morrisons own brand stuff. I have tried them with other stuff but these two always result in near empty bowls x

Rabbits can eat guinea pig but guinea pigs can't be fed on rabbit food as it doesn't contain vitamin c and guinea pigs need this as they can't manufacture it.

i thought so, wont be rushing back there in a hurry.

a trip to p@h, i know its a terrible store but they sell all the stuff i need for cat and gps

Yeah that shouldn't eat it, but I'm sure that it would do in an emergency (well I guess depending on the brand and stuff), if they got lots of veg too for vitamin C :)

But you're right, loads of pet shops just say "oh it's all the same" when it isn't . . .

And rabbits can eat guinea pig food, but it's better for them to have rabbit food really :)

i wouldnt have brought it anyways as wouldnt want to cause any problems to my gps, but was disturbed to think that he thought he was right

Some people do actually feed rabbit food to guinea pigs, and give them enough fresh food to get the vitamin C. Not what I do personally, but it's something that some people do.
