I had Lois back at the vets this morning, her wound has now healed luckily and she has no puss in there so shes recovered ok from that :)

I thought she may of had thrush which i posted about, so thats why we went this morning but shes got something much worse :( I can;t remeber the name of i think it begins with P, but basically her uterus is filling up with puss and thats why shes got yucky white matter coming out from her girly bits in big thick blobs, she said its often seen in females that havent been spayed and cats and dog more commonly get it, and the normal route is to have anm operation to spay them. She said she would talk to another vet who deals more with guinea pigs and they will give me ring this afternoon to talk to me about her and what they can do, she said it may be a possibility to give her a penicillin injection each week instead of surgery and just let her live it out as shes quite old now, but it will fill up and eventually burst :(

Anyone else experienced this in a guinea pig?

no love i've only ever had boys :smitten:
All i can do is send you heaps of loves and piggie kisses :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: and pleaseeeeee let us know what's happening :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:, sorry if i answer late i'll prob be in bed by then :-\

the vet just called me, she said basically surgery is the best option, she prescribed some natibiotics just to see if that help but shes been on bayrtil for 5 weeks already so i doubt they are going to do much she said if she starts to go downhill then she will have to be PTS so its either let her live it out, or have the very high risk surgery.. i think I'm going to otp for the non surgical route tbh.. its quite invasive for a 6 year old to go through, and i dont think that she will live through another operation, they would be removing her uterus.

I havent totally made up my mind, but I'm leaning more to her not having the op.. shes still fine atm, she doesnt seem ill at all.

Oh no, poor lois :( After everything she's been through already. I think if I was in your situation I wouldn't go with the surgery either, it is like you said a very invasive operation especially with her age as well it would be too risky :-\
(((((hugs))))) :-*

Oh no poor Lois :( you're not having much luck with your piggies lately :( all we can hope for is that the antibiotics work :( good luck with your decision its a hard one x

yeah i know, i guess its the old age setting in :( I was saying to my mum its such a shame shes like this as I have another sow morgan who is 6 and shes a picture of health!

so sorry to hear about lois, was really hoping she was on the mend. it is a tough decision, zoe was 3 years younger which is why we went for the surgery. the only thing i can suggest is to pick lois up, look into her eyes and let your heart speak! :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: and you'll know what to do! as long as she's eating, happiny then that is the main thing! again i am so sorry! :'( :'( :'( sending hugs and cuddles :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: and may god guide you and comfort you! 0:) 0:) 0:)
