I just went into to say to everyone and i was going to clean them out, and lola does what she normally does when i walk in little squeak n hides but then walks out to look at me, put my hand in to get her when......

SHE ATTACKED ME!
full on almost hissing teeth chattering so i thought i better move my hand away and i did it slowly as not to scare her when she jumped up and bit me but actually clung on to my hand and has drawn a fair bit of blood!

i haven't done anything different, handled anything different.... so what has brought this on!?!?! ?/

How long have you had her? Could she be pregnant? My friend's guinea pig suddenly started biting like this a few weeks after he got her from a pet shop and shortly afterwards realised she was pregnant.

Oww No defo not pregnant, i have had her for nearly 2 years she is just over 1 n half now, she has never been the friendliest but never done this .. she still wont let me go near her! 8...

If she was startled then this could have caused the reaction. Hopefully this is just a one off. I have had several nasty bites but they were from my boys who were fighting and I foolishly tried to seperate them. When I managed to grab Mimsi and put him back in his cage he went for my hand, he held on for ages before letting go. Bites hurt when they are full on. Ouch! Is she eating and drinking ok. If she isnt well then this could be another possible reason for her reaction..

See i was hoping it was a one off but she wasn't startled i was in there ages chatting away to them before i actually picked her up .. and she is still hissing at me when i go near her but not to anyone else.... but ive done nothing different to normal lol

I'd try and rule out any physical cause. Could she have mites or some other irritation that would mean she doesn't want to be touched? Are you the main person who picks her up? I would sit next to the cage and just see how she reacts. You could try hand feeding some treats and build up to putting your hand in and then to picking her up. :)

I sat next to her cage this morning and gave her some spinach...
she was still being funny but i thought i would just attepmt to stroke her in her cage and she ran away but as soon as i managed to stroke her back she started purring and she is fine now!?!?!?! :{

Did she think i was going to harm her or something?

Thank you for all your suggestions! now we need to figure out why she turned evil lol

Has her behaviour changed towards her cage mates as well? If they are annoying her then she may feel aggitated and upset and take it out on you.

If nothing has changed then she is probably just in season and it will pass soon. Maybe just try and sit her on your knee and give her a treat and I am sure she will be back to normal soon.

I agree re: mites etc - rule out anything physical first.

Also is her sight ok? We had a very aggressive piggy here and we found out she was blind and deaf, so was just scared rather than anything else

She doesn't have any cage friends ... we tried but she just attacked them to the point that the others were bleeding really bad!

and she can defo hear because the slightest noise makes her jump, not to sure about seeing ...

1 thing i have noticed but didnt pay much attention to as she has always been like it, she walks rather funny like really low to the floor because her back legs point outwards so she never stands up properly! i mean she isnt in pain and still walks round and whatever but she is reeally quiet large for her size and didnt no if it had anything to do with her not being able to walk properly?
