Hello. It’s been a while since I’ve posted here. Unfortunately I am now down to my last Sow. Last year we lost one aged 5, and the two remaining sows took a long time to recover (no squeaking for food for nearly 2months!). Unfortunately last week the 5.5 year old had to be PTS due to inoperable tumor in abdomen. The remaining sow is 6 and while I feel like she said goodbye to the younger one, she has again stopped speaking. She also has the sniffles which doesn’t help. We are giving her as much attention as possible, but think we need to get her a companion soon. I don’t want to continue the cycle however. Not sure if there any rescues that would offer piggies on loan so that Jyn can live her final years with company. Also not sure if she should be rebonded or just live side by side. I’ve space for up to 3 more (I had 4 to start off with). Just looking for advice on where to go and what would be best. I’m based in north west London. Thank you.

Hi

I am very sorry for your loss.

End of the line companionship for elderly piggies is not easy to find a solution for in practice. It can be very hit and miss as rescues have made bad experiences.
The RSPCA will unfortunately not loan any piggies. You could try and contact Hazelcroft Guinea Pig Rescue in St Albans.

Wishing you all the best.

Thank you for your reply Wiebke. I have already contacted Hazelcroft as that is where my piggies came from originally. Just waiting for a reply.

Jyn squeaked for her veggies yesterday! 🥰 so I’m hoping she is ok while we wait.

If you have adopted piggies from a rescue, then it is always best to contact that rescue first and foremost. :tu:

I wish you can find a solution with Hayelcroft.
