Sweets and I were perfectly happy being loners together.
You have my permission to find another home for Fez. It will be sad, of course; I know I will be sad when and if I get a friend for Red and it doesn't work out. However, in anticipation of this, I have asked both pet shops if they will take back the new pig, and each of them has said that they will not buy it back, but if I want to give it back they will take it. When all three of you are not happy, then Fez needs to be someplace else. You're not bad or irresponsible if you do this. It's OK.

I really appreciate all the different points of view in this thread; it is helping me learn what I should do as far as socializing Redemption and what works for some and doesn't work for others. Bottom line, having a single or more than one are not one-size-fits-all situations, apparently. Quite possibly a guinea pig is a social creature that should live in groups, but just as with people, guinea pigs are better off living alone and in peace than with companions and in strife.
