lone pig now has 2 friends

so as some of you know i took on a piggy called Rosie.
she is 3yrs old and was kept alone,in a tiny cage and didn't have much food.

well i took her on and then got her a friend called alice who's 14 weeks old.

but today i bought her another friend called lottie from here[*]

well got her at 2pm and her and alice have been talking away and chasing each other round the cage.
is this a good thing?
there is loads of talking its very loud no biting or anything just chasing.

Just a word of advice, have you thought of doing a quarantine for a two/three week period just to be on the safe side ?/
Even when I have bought rescues home, they have never been placed immediately with another piggy despite being given a full bill of health
Always best to let them live side by side for a while so they smell and see each other

Quarantine is so, so, so important - a little sow i rehomed some months ago developed a serious fungal infection within a week of me bringing her home - obviously i decided to quarantine anyhow and it's a good job i did. At 200g in weight she had to endure several baths per week - multiple times per day of having creams/lotions applied - had i have just plonked her in with my neutered boy i would have been trying to nurse 2 or more ill pigs. It took 7wks to fully clear her of any fungal - the total time spent away and apart from any of my other pigs was 9wks in total!

Imagine if it had been more serious than a fungal infection? Most illnesses can take several weeks before any symptoms are noticeable... 3wks quarantine is the very minimum you should give when bringing a new pig into your household

Far better to treat a single pig - than multiple pigs....Although too late now!

On a side note - this is a rescue friendly forum and while it's great you have a new piggie - i would refrain from posting links to breeders websites - this only promotes them and takes away from the very ethics of this forum - take a look at the re-homing section.....
