Lonely cavy?

I have a solitary male in my care named Tulio. He previously lived with his brother Miguel until Miguel got sick and passed away after failed attempts to bring him back to health. Tulio has lived alone since February of 2018. I have read everywhere that they like a companion animal rather than living alone and so I'd like to ask for any advice anyone can give for the situation (if i buy a male for companionship are they likely to fight, should i neuter and get a girl instead, e.t.c)

It's highly recommended to get your single piggy a friend As for what gender would work out best, I'm not so sure

Are there any Rescues near you that can offer boar dating so he can choose a friend he likes? Neutering could be another option if you have a piggy savy vet you can trust.

Hi unfortunately there is a shortage of rescues in my area that do boar dating, and one of the major things that puts me off neutering is whether it would turn out an unnecessary risk for the animal. I also held off getting a friend because I dreaded the thought of having to return a guinea pig because a pairing didnt work out, as I simply dont have space for two cages to house them separately. Do you know if baby boars are easier to socalise to adults or if age doesn't make a difference?

Personally I have had great success introducing older boars and babies, it has never not worked for me, but many other members will recommend a boar that is past its teenage time as the safest option.
As Bill and Ted said, neutering is a good option if you trust your vet and they know what they are doing with cavies. A male/female pairing is very unlikely to fail.

I checked cage sizes for two piggies and unfortunately i just dont have space or ciecumstance for two. Tulio has been fine on his own for a year now and I believe as long as I spend time with him and provide him with entertainment so hes not bored he will be able to continue. I'm sorry if this outcome upsets anyone but since he has been happy so far I'm going to continue keeping him by himself.
