I had 2 guinea-pigs, Willow and Peggy and Peggy always used to follow Willow around. Willow passed away this morning and I'm worried about Peggy. She's a very nervous, skittish guinea-pig and I don't know what to do to help her. I put Peggy in her run this morning and she's just sat in the little hut, she seems ok although obviously she's not going to be absolutely fine at the moment but I want to try and help her. I just sat next to the run and held out some grass and she came over and sat with me, so I'm going to keep doing that. Any suggestions for how to help her and to make sure she's not too lonely would be great.

I'm really sorry for your loss, and for Peggy having to adjust. We recently went through this with Linney and Sundae... Linney was always the boss, Sundae was always more anxious and the follower out of the two. Linney was 18 months older and passed of old age at 6 years of age, and this left Sundae alone for the first time in her entire life (she was about 4.5 years at the time.) She was really anxious and either withdrew/hid or was very skittish and agitated and kept wheeking for attention/comfort from us. We knew we wanted to continue on keeping guinea pigs and Sundae clearly looked like she was not coping well on her own, so we did end up getting another guinea pig fairly quickly. and Sundae basically went back to normal once we introduced a new friend for her to follow.

Firstly I'm really sorry. RIP Willow run free at the bridge :(
You may also find a small-medium stuffed toy (nothing that can be chewed off!) rub it in the cage (even rub hay onto it) and see if Peggy snuggles up to it.
All the best to you and Peggy xxxxxxx
