A recently discovered that one of oh rescue pigs is actually male . Consiquently we have had to seperate him from his two lady comanions to whom he has taken a liking. The cages are next to each other and he keeps trying to escape into theirs . He is really fidgity and is constantly looking around his cage for them.
As he is ill and quite young (4 months) we are going to have to wait to get him neutered.
Any tips on how to make him feel calmer ? Is swapping their hay so they can small each other a good idea? How young can they be neutered ?and any other tips you may have please
Thanks in advance

Firstly is there any chance that your girls could be pregnant? How long were they together before you separated them and and how old are the girls?
Your vet will advise the best time for neutering but generally this will be around 5 months of age. Until then you could out a soft toy in his cage for him to hump and cuddle up to. Swapping hay and bedding will simply excite him further at this stage but is a good step to take when you are preparing to introduce him to the girls but please wait until at least 6 weeks post neuter.

Ok thanks for you help . We did go to the vets and she said she couldn't tell at this point weather they were pregnant (but one is too young) . They were together for 5 days and I get your point about not swapping hay. Thanks for the tip about the teddy and I hope he doesn't get too lonely
Thanks again
