My little Suzie crossed the rainbow bridge Friday 11/25/11. She gave us 5 1/2 wonderful, happy years. Her sister Oreo is now very, very lonely. We are giving her lots of attention; lots of cuddles and veggies. I am afraid to get another piggie for fear Oreo would not be very kind. Does anyone have any advice for her loneliness? Thank you

So sorry for the loss of your piggie.

Give Oreo lots of cuddles and attention. It is possible to bond a piggie with another, where abouts in the country do you live? Some rescues offer a piggie dating service, so you can help find Oreo a friend that she would like.

RIP Suzie

Hi,

I have a three year old piggy called Charlie. His brother Harry died last year and since then he has been alone. As I have just begun my teacher training I have a lot less time for him as the course is very demanding. I had noticed a change in his behaviour similar to when Harry passed which is very upsetting. I am now looking into boar dating. As they are very social creatures and need to be with there own kind I feel that now is the time to give it a shot.

I am very sorry to hear about your loss, it is heartbreaking! Good luck with whatever path you choose for your piggy

xx

I live in Northeast Ohio, USA. How could I find a dating service?

I am new to this so I am not sure. I know that some rescues operate a dating service in the UK. Other than that you could seek advice from guinea pig/animal rescues about introducing a new piggy and then go from there. There are alot of people on this forum who may be of better help. I suggest you make a new thread containing the same question. Ive learnt that female are easier to pair up than males and that all guinea pigs can be picky about who they live with. Hope this helps, good luck.

Whee are really sorry to hear about Suzie 8...8...8...
RIP Suzie run free at the bridge, enjoy nibbling on the sweet dandelions and clover and popcorning thru the lush green meadows, you'll be so sadly missed by your family and little friend Oreo but NEVER ever forgotten xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) and lots of loves from Glynis, Velvet and Onyx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Another little star now twinkling in the sky .......... :(

You might be best to call your local rescues and see if they can advise on a piggy that would suit your little Oreo :)

so upset for your lose oreo and your human of course, two of my hutch mates crossed the rainbow bridge unexpectly and now i am on my own, as i am a very shy girl, i find it hard to make friends, but my human gave me a small bear of smooth fabric, non detacthable eyes etc rubbed it in my bedding and placed it in my hutch, i wasn't sure at first, but the bear was holding a tasty celery treat, my fave, so i guessed he was okay. he is a nice friend, he doesn't eat my food or hog the bedding, i spend hours sitting next to him and sometimes rest my head on his lap to sleep. perhaps a little bear would help you. lots of love violet x:(

First try finding a vet that knows anything about guinea pigs! I think the closest we over here will ever get to a dating service for pigs is going to Petco and buying another. :( I am so very sorry to hear of the passing of Suzie. Over here so many things can go wrong with them and we'll never know it because NOBODY is familiar, so do not ever blame yourself. Hold off on getting another guinea pig for company; everyone needs time to adjust. Do like the others have said and give Oreo extra attention; put her where she can see everyone come and go.
