This story is made a little bit more amusing if you know that, on this morning, I had just gotten out of bed from a sleepless night. I had read some scary stories that left me extremely paranoid and uneasy.

A few weeks ago, we were petsitting our close friends' guinea pig, Patches. Now, Patches hadn't quite warmed up to us, but we still pet her a lot and gave her plenty of attention so that she wouldn't be too homesick. On the third day, I gave her a baby carrot and pet her a little bit, then left the room.

She started making those guinea pig noises, I'm sure you know the ones. I had heard them before, but they had generally been so soft that I could only hear them really close to her. I was in a totally different room, and she was louder than I'd ever heard. Of course, I was worried, I thought maybe she'd gotten hung in the cage or something.

I opened the door and she was sitting in her cage as normal, but then started making a high pitched squeal that I'd never heard before. I ran over to her, she walked up to the cage door, and abruptly stopped. I pet her for a little bit and she seemed perfectly chill. To this day, the only explanation I can think of is that she just wanted some attention.
