One of my boys passed away today... and I'm not sure what to do. I've lost 2 guinea pigs previously, so the grief is nothing new, but it feels really odd this time. The piggy who died, Chip, was part of the first 2 guinea pigs I've ever owned. I've had him since 2015, and was almost 5 years old. Of course it hit super hard, because I was on my way back from a camp and I had to watch him in pain and discomfort for 2 hours whilst sitting in the car unable to do anything, as the nearest vet was hours away. But now my other boy is on his own, but I'm not sure what to do. I don't want him to be lonely, but I don't want to replace chip. What do I do?

Give yourself time. Don't think about doing anything yet, you are still processing that Chip is gone. Tell yourself that he had a good life, with an owner who loved him - that's all we can really do for them, give them a happy life. When they go is sometimes beyond our control.
When you are ready, you might want to think about a friend for your other pig. This new pig will not be and could not be a replacement for Chip. It will be a whole new relationship, which may take time to form. It's OK if you feel odd about it, that's normal. In the meantime, spend lots of time with your other piggy.
I'm so sorry that you lost Chip, I send you hugs

Aw, I am sorry you have lost Chip. Always remember you gave him a wonderful life filled with love
Sleep tight little piggie x

When a loved piggy goes over the rainbow bridge they always leave a piggy shaped hole in your life. Treasure your memories and give yourself time to come to terms with it. I'm sending hugs to you and your other piggy. RIP Chip, sleep tight xx
