Hello all,

My 10 week old boar, Charlie seems to have rather long bottom teeth. His top set are fine and he's eating everything that the others are. His appetite is well and that of a normal greedy piggy. Should I take him to the vet? Is there anything I can do to help him trim his teefies at home?

Thanks

Anna...and baby Charlie x

If it was me I would take to the vet just to make sure. The others on here with dental piggies will obviously have more advice than me ;)

For right now, as the vets are closed til monday you could post a photo and if there is obviously a problem or obviously not a problem somebody on here may be able to tell to help either put your mind at rest or let you know with some urgency how bad it is x

When my Peanut Butter had been with us for only a month and was at that time 2 months old I noticed his bottom incisors were much longer then those of my then 7 month old boy Hazelnut. A trip to the vets & an X-ray revealed that he has a rather large overbite and so his incisors don't meet properly to wear down. He has since had to have monthly incisor trims at the vets and he is now 2 years and 4 months old. I don't wish to alarm you but if your boy's incisors look too long I'd deffo take him to the vet. I found with my PB because we caught it so early before his toofies interfered with his eating, he has never had a problem returning to self eating after a dental. ( At the moment PB's molars are still fine.)

Bottom teeth are usually a little longer looking than the top. If you are worried i would get them checked out. Do they meet normally in the middle? Or is it over long and overgrowing? Piggie teeth are constantly growing, and its a case of whether the back teeth are growing/wearing properly too.

x.
