i am frantic. My pig just fell out of my arms and I have no clue what to do. No blood but his heart is beating quickly and he looks tramatized. Not to mention I am traumatized. I was bringing him into my bed when a firework went off and he jumped. I heard a thump and waited for him to move so i would not hurt him anymore. When he did I scooped him up and quickly checked him over. I shoved a cucumber in his face and he ate it. He seems fine but I just want to make sure there are no signs I should check for after a fall. He is kind of just sitting there and my mind is whirring. Please help it feels like I just had a mini heart attack and I can only imagine how it is for him.

Guinea pigs really don't have a good sense of depth, so they can fall pretty easily. I would be too concerned with it. If he's eating, drinking, and moving OK then I wouldn't worry. Just monitor him for the next few days to make sure he's doing alright.

Just keep an eye on him and if you are at all concerned, take him to the vet for a check. I hope the wee guy has just had a fright and he's not hurt physically x

Thank you so much! I woke up and he was back to his normal self:D

I'm glad he's ok. I remember Bobby jumped over the side of the commercial cage (which was on the floor), but he landed face first in an upturned half of wicker ball which they had chewed away. It was quite jaggy, and he looked a bit shocked and I was terrified he'd done himself a mischief, but he was fine. The wee b***ers love to worry us!

My past piggy, Meemee, tend to always jump from the sofa. We can never leave her alone for a few seconds because she would jump as soon as your out from her sight. She did it quite a few times. It's plain luck she never broke any of her legs.

Oh crikey I know this one well. When I was new on the forum I had one use her cage mate to climb up, jump and face plant the patio. There was blood and everything it was awful. To this day I think I was more traumatised by it than she was.
A good check over, feel all the legs to check for breaks or flinches that might indicate pain from sprains. Listen to the breathing and make sure there's no crackling. Keep an eye on eating, drinking and pooping and if there's any changes a quick vet check over wouldn't hurt

So glad he's okay! x
Here's a little story: it snowed recently for the first time since my one year old boars were born and their hutch was covered in a blanket during that night. I came down in the morning to feed them and took the blanket off and open the door. Both piggles froze in shock and stared at the whiteness outside. I then put my hand in the take their bowl to refill and poor Ringo jumped right over the hutch divide in the top half and fell from there to the bottom floor, down the ramp. Olly watched him fall (looking back, that was pretty funny), and I was terrified that Ringo would be hurt. He was just sitting there like a statue so I picked him up and gave him a check over, he seemed fine! I was so surprised as it was quite a fall. I kept a close eye on him and he's absolutely fine, still crazy though...
It seems guinea pigs are good at righting themselves as they land, the main concern is there back as it is very fragile, as well as if they hit their head or hurt their legs. We've both been very lucky! Xxxxxx

they do scare us. @Hoppity.K gets all OH LOOK HAY NEXT THE EYE. :hmm:. She then panics to removes it with a battle to catch piggie or that " come here little piggie voice I've got you a treat " when mission is done. Phew she's ok.
Nope piggie then decides the hay at the bottom is best. "Squeeeeek I'm going on squeeeek"
