Hi all,
I have a long hair i believe peruvian boy, is there any tips on dealing with his hair? He sheds a lot of hair when he has lap time so wondering if anything i can do to help? I was considering a furminator (used one previously on very long haired cat). I keep his fringe and bottom trimmed as much as i can, but he has a habit of peeing and pooping aswell as sleepinh in the tunnel so then he gets filthy underneath. I know bathing isnt recommended so any other tips would be fab!

I try and keep my two trimmed especially on their bums as much as possible. I had left them a bit every where else through the winter for warmth. Neither like brushing and I find my white one sheds so much but the black one not as much yet her coat is the thicker of the two. In summer I try and cut them every two weeks and keep their coat as short as I can but this year I may try and go shorter with help of my sister so that they arnt as hot

Hello. I believe my Freddie is also a Peruvian Long-haired guinea pig. He dislikes being brushed too. I have recently tried stroking him whilst wearing a cat grooming glove. He tolerates that, and it does gather loose long blond hairs. I get our Vet to trim around his tail-end so he doesn't ever get mucky "down there". He needs his fringe trimmed at the moment, but hides if he spots the scissors coming out! (Admittedly I am not a very good barber and his fringe is somewhat lopsided, so I don't really blame him!). Hope the grooming glove idea helps with your piggies. Good luck. :)

I keep mine trimmed to floor length and shaves around their bits (especially boars) plus daily a daily groom!

Betsy has fallen out with the comb and isn't keen on the brush either. She visits the "ironing board salon" every 4-6 weeks for a very fashionable wedge cut although sometimes it ends up looking like more of a short back and sides! In the summer I give her a grade 4 all over with the pet clippers. I attempt to give her a brush at least once a week but she doesn't tolerate it well. Sometimes I have to brush her over 3 or 4 days especially when she is in season when this lovely quiet, beautifully gorgeous piggy turns into:yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes: PYSCHO PIGGY:yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes: (cue music from shower scene in film Psycho).

Haha Betsy! Thanks for everyones help, hes okay being brushed hes just hard to catch bless him but he also tries to nibble at me a lot when brushed but he tolerates it. He is very thick haired so malts tons! I may have to give him a shave at some point as it is getting way too lomg now its warmer

What a lovely piggie! Bother I don't know whereabouts you live so I can't come over late one night:dri::bal: with my coat with the deep pockets!

I have exactly the same problem and give mine a dunk in the bath most nights. I know it's not recommended but I am worried about fly strike.
