Long haired piggie

Hello, I have a Sheba mini yak or long haired Abyssinian which is not recognised as a Guinea pig breed but it’s a relatively known “breed”. She hates being touched. I try to brush her and she hates it when I brush her to fur but she doesn’t squeal. She just tries to wriggle away. When I get to her backside she squeaks so much as if she is in pain but I do it as gentle as possible. She tries to jump out of my hands screaming for her life. It gets really sticky back there presumably from pee but Mabye also her grease gland bc it gets sticky pretty high up. Any tips for grooming her? If I leave it as it then I will have a matted Guinea pig in pain.

It’s a good idea to cut any long hair around the back end short to prevent soiling.
If there is somebody who can help you by holding piggy then that can be a good idea.
Most piggies don’t like their back ends being touched.

I second that. You can greatly minimise or even do away with daily grooming and the discomfort this can bring, as well as stressful bathing with some judicious hair cutting. It makes it a lot less time consuming for you and less stressful for the pets you want to make friends with.

I've got a long haired piggy she's some sort of mix I'm not sure what. My best advice is to keep the bum and sides short. It saves on too many baths, too much brushing. I find the best and quickest way with rusty is with a decent pair of scissors. She doesn't sit still I have to be very careful but persistent and she gets a brush probably once a week. I find with her bum hair very short she doesn't need baths as often as it doesn't catch all the wee. This is her with shorter trimmed hair at the back and sides.
