This is 5 year old Shadow doing a funny sound she's been doing for a while, always just when she's laid down resting under cover. Might need volume up to hear it.
I took her to see Simon Maddock vet in spring who said her breathing was a bit fast, and he prescribed the banana antibiotic I think. He said teeth, heart etc all fine. Last week I took Shadow to local vet, who has a large piggy herd, and she said she felt Shadow was labouring a bit on her in breath, but no signs of infection, heart fine, no obvious ovarian cysts, teeth good. No treatment recommended.
Shadow seems to drink more and getting fatty eyes and curled nails with age, but weight is stable and she's still active.
I guess I'm just wondering whether there's anything else I should be doing for her.

This sounds very similar to my Rosie. With her it’s something that comes and goes - no pattern to it at all - a good sneeze will usually clear it though. As you’ve had two vets check her out, I’m not sure what else you could do in all honesty. It’s good that she’s acting normally and her weight is fine.

That’s exactly how one of my pigs, Penny, has been. She usually makes the noise when she’s relaxing. I took her to the vet, and although she seemed okay, the vet perscribed her antibiotics for a respiratory infection to be safe. We went through all of the medicine and Penny still makes that noise. I’m not sure if there’s anything that can really be done about it. I take it as Penny’s “relaxed” noise, but I’m not sure what it really could be, and the vets couldn’t either. Just make sure to watch your pig and make sure there aren’t any other signs of illness, and I’m sure they’ll be okay :)

Thanks yes what else can i do indeed. I've had a piggy who had noisy breathing until she coughed or sneezed, Shadow never does that clearance.

Glad Penny is OK. I guess I'm concerned that Shadow lays down because she's struggling a bit with breathing, 2 vets have commented on her breathing. Is Penny an older lady?

I thought that was the case, but it does sound remarkably like my Rosie. As long as Shadow is acting her normal piggy self and is not losing weight, I’d continue to monitor as usual.
Love the name Shadow by the way; I used to have a ratty with that name who was so sweet!
