After the 2 very harsh winter's we've had up here we are having to re- organise our small animal housing.
Last year we thought was a one off, but this year has been longer and there is still the risk of a lot of snow. Usually the rabbits get into outside runs during the day and we have a breeze block building where the guinea pig had access to runs. All were hutched in the building at night.
Our problem is that the rabbits can't get out over winter and the guineas have had come indoors so the quail can come into the guinea pig hutches so the can survive the winter.
Complicated I know!

This year we want to build seperate 'shed' for the guineas, adapt the present shed for the rabbits so they all have indoor runs and the quail will be housed elsewhere.

We have a space about 10 ft by 20ft and at the moment have 2 single males, one pair of males and a male with 2 girls. I was thinking about a shed which was 4ft wide by 20ft long( probably seperated into 4ft sections) with outdoor runs , avairy style( another 3ft wide) down one side and a passageway down the other about 3ft wide for cleaning them out. This would mean they can have access to the outside on good days but a good amount of space on winter day and still be easy to clean.

Basically I'm asking about other outdoor set ups and how you cope in winter.
