Hi guys,

As some of you may know, I've been struggling with my Guinea Pig Baby lately,
Ive attempted to bond her with two different sets of females and both attempts, Recently and about a year ago havent worked out :/

I'm now facing a situation that i'm not sure on,

I have two sets of pairs at the moment,
Bear and Lottie my Boar and Sow pair who live outside,
My new girls, Anya and Aurora, who live inside due to health problems early this year,
And Baby who lives alone due to bullying and such problems,

The new girls an Baby live side by side in my animals room,
But as Baby hasn't bonded with the new girls i am wanting to bond them with Bear and Lottie outside, I think this will go well, they are both quite accepting of guineas, having been in a group with new guinea's before. And if it doesn't i am happy to keep them both as pairs, that's not a problem for me.

So if the bonding with the two pairs does work as i hope, then I'm in a sticky situation with Baby,
At the moment its okay-ish for her because she lives in the same room as Anya and Aurora so she can chat to them and stuff, But if the move in with the Piggies outside, then Baby would be alone, And i don't want this because she pines for other guinea pigs anyway, even now with them so close. She just wont accept them when it comes down to bonding.

So my last option with Baby might be pairing her with a boy,
In the past she has gone to a rescue to be bonded with a female, and this relationship broke down very quickly, and then i tried a year later to bond with my new girls and it didn't work, this makes me wonder if a male bond would be better.

I've messaged all the rescues in my area that i know of,
Including Avalon and Bramcote who are close to me,
Avalon doesn't have any neutered males and Bramcote just plain didn't reply, that was a week ago :/

Ive looked at the rescues recommended in the rescue search and none are feasible for me to get to, all are over an hour away, and my Mum who has the only car, Wont travel that far away. She says about an hour and a half is to much.

So i wanted to know if anyone has any suggestion for rescues around Derby/Nottingham area that i could try, Ive had a look online and none are coming up.

Ideal i want somewhere that could help me with Baby by taking her on a possible 'Speed dating' so she can choose for herself, that would be nice.

Does anyone have any suggestions for Rescues near me? Like i say Mum is a bit hesitant to travel too far.

Hi, l foster for Barnsley animal rescue charity but we are in south west Sheffield. Its about 40 minutes to Derby from here. We have a lovely 18 month old boar who has just been neutered.
If your piggies are outside all year round however we cannot rehome to you. We recommend piggies are inside from October to May (weather permitting)

Most rescues are super busy so you need to be patient. I'm sure Bramcote will reply when they can.

There's Honeybunnies here in Leicester but I believe they want pigs to be indoors.

You could try RSPCA too.

Bear and Lottie are only outside in the summer!
They are inside in the animal room from September to late spring, I get very worried about their health and stuff being outside! :)

Baby would be indoors with anyone she bonds with as she has a few health problems that i need to keep her inside for! :)

Yes, I ended up going to Honeybunnies in Leicester, around an hour or so from here. Would that be doable for you?

Personally, I would only go to a rescue that is on this forum's approved list . It is worth travelling a little bit further .
However, I am aware of these 2 rescues but please bear in mind I do not know enough about them to recommend either of them ...

Notts Nibblers Rodent Rescue

Burrowed Hearts Animal Rescue

I would like to go to one of the rescues listed but if my mum refuses my hands are tied a bit as she has the only car in the family, I have no one else to ask :/
Mum also thinks it's not worth trying Baby with anyone else, she doesn't get why it's important for GPS to live with other GPS,
And she thinks because it's not worked with girls it won't work with a boy, :/

I'll message a few on the list anyway to see if they have any avaliable, I've been firm with mum that if I can find Baby a male I need to try for her wellbeing :)

I hope you manage to find a companion for Baby

I've spoken to someone from HoneyBunnies, they have some avaliable at the end of the month so that's good,

The RSPCA near me isn't very good :/ they didn't even know how to sex guinea pigs when I went :/
That's where I got Taini my first GP from originally,

I'm not 100% sure but I think Bramcote is where I got Baby from and they really badly paired her with Taini, looking back I can now see that they didn't get on, but she said they were fine and we couldn't seperate so we took them home, thats how I ended up in this mess in the first place really.
So I might be reluctant to go to Bramcote again :/ But like I say I'm not 100% it was there, I'd know it if I saw it :/

I'd thought a week was quite a long time to have no reply, but maybe I'm just impatient to know if they can help! but we will see if they reply and what they say if they do :)
