As the title says, I'm looking for a vet closish to Nottingham to neuter one of our boars.

I've tried Alfreton Park Vets and I'm being told the GA they use isn't safe, so now I'm starting my search again, it can't be too far out of Nottingham because I'm having to rely on @artcasper to take my son and guinea pig.

The reason for neutering is because he fell out with his cage mate, we did a test as well and tried him with Tyrion.. he chattered his teeth at him and that charged at him, so I'm not sure that Cesaro is suited to other boars? Tyrion is only around 10 - 11 weeks old... He seems perfectly fine with the girls though which is obviously why we're trying to find a vet to neuter him. We would just leave him next to the girls but we simply don't have the space since moving into a smaller property.

I've checked the vet locater and have emailed Chapel House... not that I like the person responding to their FB messages, a bit rude abrupt which initially put me off asking artcasper to go there. I am no good on the phone due to SAD.

Like I said it can't be too far away from Nottingham.

Thanks in advance

what kind of distance outside is ok? is an hour too much? all i can think is maybe ask any recommended rescues close by who they use and recommend :)

Hi @biscandmatt thanks for responding.

I'm not sure because it's @artcasper who is helping us out and I don't want to put on her as she has her own things to do.

Oh that's a very good idea but recommended rescue's are also a bit far out, just had a look

that's a shame :(

are chapel house meant to be good? because if they are, don't let a rude facebook person put you off. some receptionists can be like that, but it's the vet and vet nurses who count. years back at our vets, a couple of the receptionists were like that. not nice but worth it for the vets and nurses there. thankfully they made changes after a survey! wonder if lots of people commented on the same thing :))

Lol could have done! I did email and say I've emailed because I have SAD and that when I speak to whoever is on Facebook, they sound abrupt, lol. So I sent the questions that way.

Cesaro got the go ahead to be neutered, he does have a tilt but Ellie thinks he was born with it sadly which would be why the other two vets that saw him couldn't see a problem with his ears.

lol, some people are just very blunt aren't they. hopefully you'll get an email soon with answers to your questions. :)

Yeap, a bit too blunt, I like to be blunt and honest but I try and be tactful with it at the same time so's not to offend people, sometimes they still get offended but hey oh lol.

Yeah I think I tried to email them for something else and they never replied lol, so we'll see *crosses fingers*.

lol, i'm the same. i always seem to manage to either worry people, offend them, or sound like i'm criticizing! it's really not intentional, just a natural 'gift' x

haha, I have "possible" social anxiety so I'm very aware about offending others and do my best not to do it, I even delete and retype emails/messages lol.

Glad you have decided not to go ahead with the neuter Kerrie. Not that I've got anything against it but I could tell you weren't altogether happy with the decision and I feel you really need to be comfortable with it before going ahead. Something maybe to bear in mind for the future, Cesaro is a young piggy so it won't be too late if you delay. Hope he will be very happy next to your girls, and the girls will be happy next to him.

Thanks @piggieminder

Yeah your right, I was never comfortable with it, we've lost two guinea pigs this year, one I was quite close to and we've grown quite attached to Cesaro, so it was flaring my anxiety a fair bit. I've also got gout in my foot! Don't know if it's because I was stressing so much, but it flaming hurts, I've ran out of my meds for it as well!

He's next to the girls and has been for I think about 2 months because the lads fell out more or less right away, it was a few days after we got them that they had a nasty fight. He seems to like it, he talks to them through the bars, rumbles them, gives Cocoa a piggie kiss, she gives him some back lol, the other two girls are a bit harder to please lol.
