My mother-in-law is considering adding a new addition to our little piggy family. She thinks that there needs to be an 'Alexandria piggy to represent my little girl. So, of course I happily agreed.

We are not quite ready to receive our newest addition, because I don't want to throw a piggie into a cage with two females who still haven't figured out what they want, and not to mention it would be much too small. Basically, what I am trying to get at is, I need resources.

I live in a rural area, and it seems to be a bit harder for me to find a guinea pig rescue of any sorts. I need some of my fellow piggy lovers to help me out. Anyone of you who live in the States, if you could please help me look about for rescues in 'Eastern Kentucky.' I would be so appreciative and so would our newest addition.

Thanks to all my friends in advance. <3

As a mainly UK membership forum it may take a while for one of our US members to find your post and then it will depend on where they live as to whether they can suggest anywhere so please be patient :)

I know rescues are not as common in the US as here in the UK either so we know it's hard to find a piggy that needs a home from a reputable source. Hopefully someone will be along soon to give you some ideas.

There is a rescue in southern Indiana just 15 min from Louisville, KY. The website is rescueguineapigs.com. I'm not sure if this is close enough to you.

This is a name of an animal shelter in Versailles Kentucky, although they are not Guinea Pig specific they may be able to put you in touch with someone who is..

Hope this helps.. x
