Hi guys I am having a bit of a hay crisis at the moment.

I am looking for a good farm or online hay supplier. I live in Manchester in the UK.

All the pet shop hay is expensive and bad quality.

I drive so can travel but not to far.

I did find one place but they said they have not been able to get timothy hay since last october.

If anyone knows any where that is good quality but not too expensive please help I will be extremey grateful.

dustfreehay online are good. Will try and find some Manchester members for you and tag them into thread

I use petbeddinguk via eBay. They sell big farm bails of hay miles better than the pet shops. Not sure what kind of hay it is though so sorry if your looking for Timothy specifically. They deliver the bails to you via post too.

My local horse feed merchant supplies American Timothy hay, but at about £10.50 a bag,it's not the cheapest but quality makes up for it. Home Bargains often sells quite nice hay, short chopped for about a couple of quid, works out cheaper than most pet shops, and they sell shavings too, also cheaper than most

I swear by Ings hay from hay-and-straw.co.uk. It's £18 for 9.5kg delivered which I know is expensive, but it comes the next day & is always green & lush. The strands are super long, great for teeth wear. The best thing is that it's great for tunnelling & burrowing, it really keeps it's shape because the strands are so long. Been buying it for more than a year, never had a duff bag & the lady that runs it seems lovely, she said she'd refund if it wasn't up to scratch. They also sell other hays, the Timothy is great quality but shorter pieces than the Ings. (Ings is just meadow hay but grown in water meadows so it's super lush, it's all organic & pesticide free too :D

Are you very much in the middle of the urban area, or are you more on the outskirts? If the latter or you can access as such, go along to your local country store/ horse feeds shop. They all have noticeboards, and at every simple one I've ever been to there's been local good quality meadow hay advertised. You'll probably not find Timothy hay like that though, as there's not that many producers of it in the UK.
