Since I have had Sophie she breathes quite loud. I took her to the vet and they could not find anything wrong. The vet said she will always breathe that way. Often when she makes noises it sounds like she is losing her voice. Like she squeeks then her voice cuts out. Has anyone had experience with this? I do not know what to do as the vet cannot find anything wrong. Apart from that she is well and healthy.

I have had this happen twice to mine and both times it's been a heart problem.

But if your vet has signed off fit and well (I take it they checked the heart) then i guess its unique to the pig.

A couple of mine do this and it seems to be normal to mine.

x.

Some of my sows wheeze and go silent when the whistle, usually when they've got their heads right up in the air and their necks stretched out, but they don't have heavy breathing.

I'd have her heart checked if you haven't already, like someone else suggested, it could be a murmur perhaps? I know my girlfriend's ferret, Spencer, has a heart murmur and he breathes heavier than the other 15. I know that's different to a pig but just a thought.

Hope you get to the bottom of it.

Just wanted to send some healing loves and wheeeeeeeeks for little Sophie XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
