So my pigrief has been losing chunks of hair for a while nowe. She's had mite treatment. But it's still happening. She's 8 years old.
Thankyou

Have you had her checked by a vet at all? If it is mites then a lot of store products aren't strong enough to effectively get rid of a bigger infestation. If she doesn't have mites then there could be other reasons for hair loss such as hormonal problems/cysts

Hi! That is a great age.

Please see a vet. Old guinea pigs do not lose hair because of age. Your vet has to check whether it is fungal, mange mites or caused by ovarian cysts. Your girl needs a proper diagnosis and the correct and good quality treatment for it.

Because older and frailer guinea pigs can have a weaker immune system, opportunists like fungal infections and mage mites can hit very hard very quickly. Ovarian cysts are common in many older sows, as hormone production never stops. Most don't cause any problems, but some can.
