New Born Pup
When we first got her, she was only the size of my hand. Quite shy to start with, she would only poke the tip of her head out and all there was to see were her little black eyes that looked like music notes. This is how Nutka got her name (Nutka - in polish, little music note).
We knew from the beginning she was a very clever little girl, everything had to be done on her terms. She had both of us, me and my husband, wrapped around her little paws.
Very fussy little creature, who always had to have everything first class.
Hay been around for longer than 2-3 hours? She's not going to eat it! Nuggets left overnight? Forget it!
A bit of discoloration on her greens? No thank you!
But she would always get what she wanted because we loved her so much. Even though she was a bit of a diva, she was the most intelligent little creature and she loved her routines. She knew to jump on her gazebo when asking for hay and to be right up on her house where the bowl us if she wanted nuggets. She also knew lots of tricks, my personal favourite was "spin" - when I said "Nutka spin!" she would do a little spin around and would wait for a treat to follow.
She really was so clever and would pick up things like that very quickly.
She really loved my husband. She would always react to his voice and would cone running to him for a bit of fuss. Nutka was really fond of cuddles, too- she would sleep on my lap right on my electric blanket - warmth was her thing
We were a perfect family. Our life was all about her. We would have pictures of her on the phone screens, our mugs, we would change the words of a song to incorporate her name into them - I know it sounds silly, but this is all true
Unfortunately, perfect never lasts forever. A year ago Nutka started having continuous bladder problems. After countless courses of antibiotics, a procedure of bladder flush out to remove a tiny stone, lots of dietary changes, she still kept letting more infections and was in a lot of pain.
Despite all the pain, she remained her cheerful and full of life.
Until recently... This is when we could that big nasty stone in her bladder.
She was a very brave fighter and she was doing so well post ok, trying to eat all by herself, but for some reason, she suddenly went downhill
Within hours, she got really bad. We woke up at 4am to give her some syringe food, but as soon as we saw her, we knew she has no strength left to fight. So we stood by her. Told her she has been a little warrior and we understand if she had enough.. If she wants all the pain to stop... We were stroking her and she passed in the comfort of her own cage.
I hope you knew how much we loved you baby girl. I hope you felt our love affection and that these 5 years with us were as beautiful for you as they were for us. You will always be a part of our lives and will be in our hearts. You have left tiny pawsprints all over our hearts.
We promise we will never forget you and hope we have not failed you.
Our beautiful, cheeky, brave girl.
You thought us a lot about friendship, patience and love. Thank you for being our best friend. Thank you for being a part of our family. We hope we can meet again in a better place with no pain and bladder issues.
In our hearts forever.
