Mr P was feeding Misty beans and noticed she has lost a bottom tooth :( We had a look (not helped by Misty who was really unimpressed!) and there is no swelling or blood and she is chewing happily on beans, cucumber etc with the other teeth. We will take her to vets after bank holiday but she is munching on hay etc too quite normally. Information I can find says that it will grow back in a few weeks but I know there are lots of knowledgeable people about teeth on here, just wondered if there was anything else I should be doing for her apart from keeping a close watch.

Thankyou! x>>

Poor Misty :(

Have no advice unfortunately, hopefully furryfriends may be along soon, maybe worth dropping her a pm as she is very knowledgeable on all thing dental.

It's good news that Misty is still eating fine, lots of healing vibes her way. Love from us and the girls x x x

Misty says thankyou x>> Popped in to have another peek and she is munching away so hopefully she is ok. Not sure how she would have lost it though?

The whole reason I got Jeff was because he lost his upper two incisors.

They grew back in no time at all! Literally a week-10 days and they were back and we've never had any problems since.

Weigh her daily to make sure she's eating enough. If she's got the other tooth, she shouldn't have too much problem. Jeff lost one initially, but the second one was also snapped, it just hadn't fallen out yet. Jeff managed fine with foods that were long and thin that he could get in his mouth and crunch up with his molars. He managed fine with hay, I chopped his carrots/cucumber etc. into long thin strips, leafy things were fine, pellets were fine, as was hay (although he was rather partial to being hand fed the fluffy bits :)) )

Watch her when she's eating to make sure she is actually eating and not just mouthing at it. You may need to take her out and feed her away from the others if she's a bit slow eating, so that she gets her fair share. If her weight is dropping then she'll need some food syringed to maintain her weight.

Hopefully it'll be all straight forward and she'll have some new pearly white gnashers in no time! If she's eating ok by herself, and maintaining her body weight then you probably won't need to see a vet. Hopefully it'll just grow back and meet up nicely with the others, but keep an eye on the teeth to make sure they align as they should do, or that will be a trip to a dentist!

We have given her a variety of foods to see what she can munch - hay, cucumber (a slice not a strip), salad, piggie food, even a munch at a head of broccoli (sp?). She is definitely eating it as it is vanishing!

Will pop her out and weigh her when Mr P gets back. She is an only piggie so I know exactly how much she is eating.

Thankyou for replying xoxoxoxo

Keep a close eye on her weight and how she is eating. You also need to make sure that the corresponding tooth that now doesn't have anything to wear against doesn't start to grow too long. It may still wear against the other bottom tooth, but best to check it regularly. Feed lots of hay and grasses. Hopefully you won't need a vet visit.

Keeping an eye on her, have put her back onto fleece so I can see how much hay etc she is eating. She has not lost weight and is still happily munching on any veg. I think she is enjoying the extra fuss! :))

Aww, don't worry Misty Finley once lost his top tooth and was fine, it grew back in no time. Sending her healing vibes and wheeks!

Just back from vets, decided to take her and glad we booked the appt as she has lost a little weight and from being fine was all fluffed up in her cage this morning looking sorry for herself with untouched veggies :(

Her top teeth and remaining bottom teeth had grown too long, vet gave her a tooth burr - what is this? He said this was better as teeth can shatter if clipped?

Checked her back teeth after syringing her with water due to food in mouth - all fine.

I think he thought I was a little fussy as she has been squeaking more for last few days - checked and not when she was weeing or pooing but made him check too! :red All fine, no blood so that is one good thing!

She is now nomming on all her favourite treats - whee feel guilty for making her go to the vets - first time for her! xx

Phew! Glad the Misty one is ok!

It's excellent news that she is noming her food again already. You were right to take her, never second guess your piggie intuition.

Lots of love to my favorite white piggie. Give her a fuss for us x x

Misty has spent the evening squawking at her hooman slaves whilst permanently having her nose stuck in the food bowl - think she is making up for lost time! :))

She is no longer ruffled up and has been bouncing around again, phew! :<>

How are your 3 doing - and where are the Megan photos along with C and T?! x)x)x)

So pleased Misty is feeling like her old self! Glad to hear that yelling for food has resumed :)) :))

Will take some of Meggy over weekend, she has been in her cavy cosy for first time today ever... But because she's blind, she will sit in it with her bum sticking out -don't think I've seen her face all evening :))

Lot's of love to Misty, really pleased the vets have sorted her teeth out and put your mind at rest. x

Sorry hun, only just seen this! Sorry to hear Misty was having probs, glad she is better now though, they do make up for lost time trust me!

Which vet did you see? Tom or Guy? xx

Saw Tom, not seen him before. He seemed to know what he was doing, although was a little stressed, I think apppointments had backed up! :)

He is lovely, we had a longer than usual consultation with him a few weeks back, and it was left he was going to look into it for me and come back to me. He rang me from his mobile while he was on holiday ith his family to go through everything, we were on the phone for about 15mins.

Guy on the other hand, i cannot stand, he is always so negative and to the point and i have found him to be rude. xx
