well, we had quite a day yesterday. My neighbours have two baby piggies and had gone out for the day leaving them in the run. Her husband went to put them back in their hutch about noon and one was missing. he search for about an 1 hour before phoning her up to tell her the bad news. Well we all searched for hours in all the neighbouring gardens but couldnt find the poor little thing. :(

The good new this morning was as she got up she saw her cat chasing something in the next door garden. yes it was the little piggie. they managed to catch it after about half an hour and it has been put back it the hutch to rest.

We are all hoping it just needs some rest and it will be ok:), but any advise would be great.

Aw, the poor little piggie probably had the scare of a lifetime! You didn't mention how the little piggie was? Was it hurt? Hopefully not. I'm sure the little one will forget all about his ordeal and if he wasn't hurt, then I'm sure he'll be back to normal soon. The just need to check the cage to see how he got out in the first place! I hope he's ok! Poor thing!

Assuming the piggie was pretty much unhurt or uninjured, after such a stressful night I think that I would leave them in the hutch for the next couple of days to recover, just popping my head in to check all is well with a few loving cuddles and lots of calming speaking to them. Do they have ane Rescue Remedy? A drop of that behind the ears can help soothe. What a shock, thank goodness the piggie was found safely! You have to be so very careful with outdoor runs, this isn't uncommon - they can rest over potholes in the ground which create ready-made burrows for them to escape to.

So pleased to read that everything was ok.
Yes, as advised above, give the piggy some quiet and rest. I am assuming you have checked it over for any injuries.

Piggies are funny little things. They don't like to go far away from home and be exposed.

It must have been a really worrying time!

Glad the little piggie was safe. It is advisable never to leave guineas in a run unattended for this reason and also because they can become dehydrated and overheat and die (my OH knows someone whose GP`s died in their run on a very hot day) or another animal such as a cat, dog or fox could get them. If they have to go out, the piggies should be put back in their hutch in shade with plenty of water.

thanks for all your concerns and the little piggy is fine, no injuries just spent the night on the run lol

Aww, the poor little mite! :( I am SO happy that it was found, and isn't hurt......it must have been SO worrying! :( :(

yes my neighbour was really worried. To think we had been crashing about in the undergrowth right next to her for hours, poor little piggy. :))
