i haven't been about for a long time but really feel the need to post at the moment.

two years ago i adopted two piggies who had already been round a number of home sin their short lifes, and it seems liek they really have been dealt a bad hand :-(

the first piggie rocky i was heart broken when i lost last september after unexplained weight loss, he had been with me just over a year. he had had on op on his teeth but passed away the day after.

his brother rolo however continued to blossom into such a characterful piggie. even though eh an dhis new cage mate didnt get on so had to eb seperated, hes always been happy of human company.

he has now been with teh husband an di just over two years, but yesterday i foudn a massive lump on him, i was scared at first it wa sfly strirs oemthing, but teh vets have looked him over and have confirmed it is either a tumour or a cyst. due to teh size tehy have said theyw ill need to operate, and have wraned us of the risks but advised us to give ita go as with his weight (he's a healthy 1250g), his age (3 year old) and a healthy heart, plsu he is eating, drinking, and attention seeking, it is worth taking teh risk (if left it will continue to grow and it is already egg sized).

i'm proper missing rolo tonight as he has stayed in at the vets ready for them to operate in the morning. ia m dreading tommorrow but know that whilst there's risks involved in teh op, his future without it is even more bleak.

it's a year since we lost rocky which doesnt help either. so please everyone, tommorrow, can you send positive vibes for our rolo. he really is one heck of a character and deserves to live out the rest of his years in teh forever home he eventually found, he has two parenst here who love him, and a great auntie (linds) and ucle (ken) who adore him too....come on rolo fro us, be strong x

how did fudge go on post op? i have never been through this with an animal before, the lump just seemed toa ppear from nowhere though the vet suspects it was coming up over a short period but his long hair was covering it.

Good luck for Rolo in his op today. My Dory has a sort of similar thing and is having his op tomorrow so we can swap stories on how they're getting on post op. He sounds like a healthy boy so try not to worry too much hugs x

Sending lots of good vibes for Rolo! My pig Linney had a cyst/abscess removal done earlier in the summer (though hers was not egg sized, more like a large grape.) It had been lanced but still refused to clear up. Luckily her post-op recovery was very good- she did fine, had a significant incision that took a long time to heal but she was back to her usual self very quickly and the incision did not seem to bother her at all.

awww thats good, hope Rolo as lucky x

Hi how did it all go?
You will most likely have to do some post op cleaning of the wound, i hope also they've given you some pain relief
Healing vibes for Rolo from myself and the girls xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I'm sure Becks will be on soon to update. I hope she wont mind me letting you know that Rolos op went very well and he is doing fabulous.

Becks was over here in Scunthorpe last night for the night and this am so i had the pleasure of babysitting the very handsome Rolo. When Becks goes on hols all her furrys come to me so Rolo was more than happy to come to Auntie Linds for the night to get spoilt rotten.x)

He is such a big chunky boy, he has been so brave and is continuing to eat for england despite having had a very big op to remove his tumour, he has got lots of disolvable stitches that look to be healing very nicely.

Rolo has such a huge character that has helped him get through this and his fabulous Mum who acted very swifly in getting him sorted.

sorry to keep you all wondering, and thanks linds for the update, i hadn't wanted to post thurs/fri as didn;t wnat to jinx stuff, and then this weekend been abit busy hence rolo staying with his auntie lindsay.

anyway rolo had his op wednesday morning, he wa sfirst in, and was allowed out that evening.

he had some pain relief injections but other than that hasnt needed anything. he isnt even on baytril which surprised me. we just have to check the wound to make sure it isnt weepy and if it is clean with water. to date we have only actually had tos do that once, it is drying up well.

the poor boy had in excess of 30 stitches as he had to have some reconstructions urgery done, they also took some of his muscle away as it turne dout to eb a tumour and it was attached to it, but he is getting about fine. we have been told given his hostory his risks of further tumours are no greater than any other healthy piggie of his age, which i was very erlieved to hear.

the only thing he was prescribed wa slots of tlc which there has been no shortage of, he also has to go back to the vets this week for a check up.

and the best news - despite his traumer, his weight is only just under 1200k still, and the way he is munching i am sure it wont be long til he is back above that!x)

Fantastic news that he's doing so well - huge hugs to you both xx>>>

Teresa xx
