My Colin was breathing loudly last night. At first I thought he was snoring but when I turned the TV down I could him him eating at the same time. I picked him up and he stopped. But then did it off and on when I put him back. Otherwise he is just fine.

Anything I should worry about?

If he were mine and he seemed bright in himself and was eating well, I'd keep a close eye on him and see how things go. It may have just been a one off. Some guineas, especially those with shorter noses (and sadly that is they way some are being bred) are noisy breathers at times. My Texel is like that and also Millie my Himmie girl (though Millie hasn't a particularly short muzzle.)

Have you changed bedding/hay supplier? Just a thought. Obviously any worries see your vet.

Hope all goes well.

He could just have had something stuck in his nostril, this happens with my pigs sometimes. As long as he is otherwise o.k.do not worry. Mary

hes not been snorting naughty things has he? lol

Could be a cold keep a close eye. I there any mucus as all or dischange from the nose or eyes? Any other symptoms. If it is a cold my first point of call is a very small dab of olbas oil on the nose and to keep the piggy warm. If there is not improvement in a couple of days I would take your piggy to the vet for some antibiotics. If your piggy does not usually breath like this it is unlikely to be because he has a short nose as you would have noticed it before... I had a piggy with a short nose and he had recurring respitory problems that were related to that but as I say I think you would know. It could be an alergy if you have changed anything but with the time of year and the weather likely hood is its a cold.

thank you for all your replies! he wasn't doing it at all last night and he is certainly bright and eating well. so i think i'll just keep an eye on him and see if he does it again.

thanks again!

I have a 5mth old rex who snores! only when he's totally relaxed though! He also sneezes more than the rest but I'm not unduly worried hes also a 'truffler' in the hay so he just makes himself sneeze more. I have checked his nostrils regularly and his fine in every other way.
